3 Things To Think About When Renting A Moving Truck

About Me
Scheduling A Great Trip

For quite some time, I was stuck in a serious rut. I was tired of my job and everything I was faced with in my personal life, so I started looking for a way out. I began talking with a therapist, and they suggested going through and working on organizing a vacation. As we explored different destinations and locales, we were able to find a really fantastic area that seemed like it would work for me. After I booked the trip, I felt a lot better knowing I had something to look forward to, and I felt powerful knowing I had made my life better. 3 Things To Think About When Renting A Moving Truck

When it comes time to move, you don't have to rely on someone else if you have the ability to move your items on your own. You can make use of a truck rental service and get the job done on your own.

The Size of the Truck

First, you need to consider the size of the truck. You need a truck that will fit all your stuff. Think about what you are taking with you and what you are leaving behind. Provide an estimate of the type of furniture and number of rooms that you will be moving to the trucking company, and they will be able to match you up the with appropriately sized truck. Small apartments with only one bedroom will usually fit in a smaller truck, whereas apartments and homes with multiple bedrooms and/or living rooms may need a bigger truck.

The Distance You Are Moving

Next, you need to know the distance you are moving. Some companies charge based on the time the vehicle is rented. For example, you will be charged for renting the truck for one day, two days, or a week.

Other truck rental companies charge based on the mileage your drive. For example, you will be charged a specific rate for the first hundred miles, and then have to pay a per-mileage fee for any driving you do over that set of mileage.

Other rental companies provide a combination. For example, you can rent the truck for one day and 120 miles; if you exceed the mileage or the time, fees will be added onto your bill.

Get a few quotes and figure out what rental company offers the best deal for time verses distance.

Keep in mind that interstate or long-distance moves, where you drop the truck off in one place and pick it up in another, are often more expensive and have different fee structures.

The Insurance Offered

Finally, you should always purchase insurance when you rent a vehicle. It may be "optional" but it is really not optional if you want to protect yourself from a big bill if an accident occurs.

You need two types of insurance. First, you need insurance for the vehicle itself, so you are not responsible for any damage that occurs to the vehicle. Second, you need insurance that will protect your belongings inside the truck

When renting a truck for moving, make sure you get a truck that can fit all your belongings in one round. Consider the amount you will be charged for the truck, from insurance to mileage fee, and find the rental that works the best for you.
